Abstract:
The total inclusive and the normalized differential cross sections for the production of top quark pairs in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV are measured based on data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 42 pb$^{-1}$. The measurements are performed in the $\ell$+jets decay channels with an electron or a muon in the final state. The differential cross section is measured as a function of transverse momentum and rapidity of the top quarks and as a function of transverse momentum, rapidity, and invariant mass of the top quark pairs, as well as of the jet multiplicity. The measured cross sections are compared to several theoretical calculations. No significant deviation from the standard model prediction is observed.
