Abstract: The production yields of leading charged-particle jets and charged particles in proton-proton collisionsare measured at √s=8~TeV based on a data sample collected with the CMS detector and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 45 μb−1. The charged-particle jets (charged particles) are measured in the pseudorapidity range |η|<1.9(2.4) for transverse momenta pT>1(0.8)~GeV. The measured yields integrated above a given minimum transverse momentum, pTmin, provide information on the mechanism by which the underlying parton-parton cross sections are unitarised when approaching the low-pT non-perturbative domain. Comparisons to predictions obtained from various Monte Carlo event generators, show that the measured observable has a large sensitivity to the underlying physics. | ||
