Abstract:
A search for pair-production of third generation scalar leptoquarks decaying to top quark and tau lepton pairs is presented using up to 19.7 $\mathrm{fb^{-1}}$ of proton-proton collision data at $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV collected by the CMS detector at the LHC.An excess of events containing a pair of muon and hadronic tau lepton candidates with two or more jets is sought after, but the observations are found to be in agreement with the standard model predictions. Assuming unit branching fraction for the leptoquark decays to a top quark - tau lepton pair, the existence of pair-produced charge $-1/3$ third generation leptoquarks up to a mass of 634 GeV is excluded at \%$ CL.
