Abstract:
A search is presented for pair-produced second-generation scalar leptoquarks, using 19.6 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected by the CMS detector during the 2012 proton-proton running of the LHC. Two final state signatures, one containing two high $p_{\mathrm{T}}$ muons and at least two jets, and the other containing one high $p_{\mathrm{T}}$ muon, two or more jets and significant missing transverse energy are considered. Second generation scalar leptoquarks with masses less than 1070 (785) GeV are excluded for $\beta= 1 (0.5)$, where $\beta$ is the branching fraction of a leptoquark to a charged lepton and a quark.
