Abstract: We present a measurement of the Z-boson production cross section double differentially in bins of rapidity and transverse momentum using a data sample of pp collision events at √s=8 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1. The Z-boson is identified via its decay to a pair of muons. The measurement allows to precisely test QCD dynamics over a large region of phase-space. In addition, the double differential cross-section measurement is potentially sensitive to the gluon parton density function in a kinematic regime important for the Higgs-boson production via gluon fusion. The results are compared to MadGraph and RESBOS generators. In both cases the spectrum is softer in data than in MC at high PT(Z) with the simulation to data ratio varying O(10%) from one. | ||
