Abstract: The results of a search for heavy scalar particles decaying into two photons is presented. Events were collected at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV in proton-proton collisions by the CMS detector at the LHC. The search, covering the mass range between 150 GeV and 850 GeV, is extended to resonances with natural width up to 10$\%$ of the mass. After the final selection, using a dataset of 19.7 $fb^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, no significant evidence for new particle production has been observed. Model independent upper limits at 95$\%$ confidence level are set on the production cross-section times branching ratio of the process. These limits extend significantly previous diphoton searches results in terms of mass and width ranges. | ||
